After 63 years of paying off my student loans, I have barely made a dent.
I created a formula to help people in similar situations grapple with this mathematical phenomenon:
P=principle
r=interest
n=loan period
Total loan repayment=[( P × r × (1+r)n ) / ((1+r)n − 1)] x n=

The bird gets it.
